Our sweet Coley-bear turned 1 on April 18th. We can't believe she is such a big girl! She is doing just great with her eating. Some of her favorites are macaroni and cheese, cheese, scrambled eggs, turkey meat, chicken, green beans, yogurt and her favorite is avocados. She eats every last bite! She loves chocolate milk...I know...it's not the best, but I'm slowly turning chocolate milk into just plain milk. But it is all she will drink! She is a super fast crawler, really has no interest in walking at this point, pulls up on everything and everyone, smiles a ton, says mama, dadda, uh-oh, and makes all sorts of grunting sounds. She is down to just one nap in the afternoon (most days) and sleeps so great at night! She has only 2 bottom teeth and for being such a huge 6 month old (or maybe just her head!), she is really quite petite for a 1 year old. She weighs 18.5lbs (8-9%), is 28 inches long (66%), but her head is still in the 99%! We love watching her laugh at Mylie. For the most part, they play well with each other. However, it is pretty funny to watch Coley defend herself from Mylie. She has no problem pulling hair or taking a swing at Mylie. We hope with age, the girls will become the best of friends and really treasure being sisters.
We didn't think that we could love another child as much as we loved Mylie. I know all parents go through this with the birth of their second child. And somehow, you do. You just love them. Your heart flutters with love for these babies. Mylie is so special as our first born. We love that she is independent, strong-willed and so sweet all at the same time. And we love that Coley is our second little girl. We felt like we had to handle her with such caution and concern. And while she scared us as an 8-day old, she too was strong, determined and crossed each developmental milestone with flying colors, putting the little bit of apprehension in the back of our minds quickly at ease. She is so precious. She is so sweet. She will lay her head on your shoulder and be so content. And while she is so content, we are overwhelmed with love and want to remain in the moment for as long as we can. And moments like these are daily with Coley. What a wonderful first year.
Poor baby Coley didn't get a big first birthday party like Mylie did. And we haven't even given her her first bite of cake yet. And David and I went out of town for the weekend on her birthday! We have a lot of making up to do! But she did get to spend a special weekend with her Nonna and Papa (plus saw her other grandparents the two weekends before...they came just for her!) while David took me to celebrate my birthday. We'll post pictures of her at home birthday celebration...once we do it!

Oh, she's so cute!! I love that you can love a second (or third) child just as much as the first! I guess our heart just grows. Coley is lucky to have a sister...even though she might not realize it until she's about 18 or so. But sisters are so special!
