Bathtime Fun (Or Not So Much)

Mylie typically has the best time in the bath. She loves to play with her cool toys; loves to splash water everywhere; loves to pull up on the side of the bath tub. This is where the fun now stops for Mylie. Not only is standing up in the tub discouraged by most parents, I'm sure that the American Association of Pediatrics has something stern to say about it as well.

9 Months

Mylie was 9 months old last Tuesday (yes, I'm a little behind these days). She went in for her 9 month check up yesterday and here are her stats...weight: 16.3 lbs (8-9%), height: 28 inches (63%), head circumfrence: 17.2 inches (43%). She did lose some pounds since she's started crawling and the doctor said this is very normal. (I wish I could drop some weight just by crawling around!!!) She was such a sweet girl for the doctor yesterday and didn't cry too hard when they poked her finger to draw blood. The doctor gave us the go ahead to give Mylie some big kid foods and here's what we've tried so far...

The messiest baby cookies around!

Bananas...these were a hit.

Cheese and turkey...the cheese was also a big hit...the turkey...not so much. She's also had macaroni and cheese and really likes it. Finally, someone else in the house that enjoys Velveeta Shells & Cheese!

Here's Mylie crawling around. Please ignore the blue tape and messy floors. We're involved in a month (or 2) long painting process.

She also pulls up in her crib now. This was the first time I saw her pulling up. She was ready to get out of her bed after her nap and got really upset when I left the room (with her in her bed) and went to get the camera.

And she's just a silly girl. She has so many new faces and this was just one that I caught.

Mylie's Latest Trip

Mylie and I went to Lubbock and Carlsbad last week for Melissa's bridal showers. Mylie did wonderful on the 5 hour trip to Lubbock and on the 7 hour trip back home from Carlsbad. She was able to meet lots of new friends at the showers and see her Grandpa Dobbs, Grami Jo and her Great Grandma Dobbs. On our way home, we stopped in Abilene and had lunch with Mylie's Uncle Michael.

This is how I kept Mylie occuppied while we got ready for the shower in Lubbock. She was actually very content for about 30 minutes.

Here is Mylie's Carlsbad shower attire. I love this dress. David and I bought this dress for her right after we found out she was going to be a little girl. What a precious little girl she has turned out to be.

Me, Melissa and Michelle at the Carlsbad shower

Mylie and I stayed at my grandma's house while we were in Carlsbad. My dad (and Grandpa Dobbs) decided to make a quick trip down to visit us...I mean Mylie!

What a fun week! Melissa's wedding is in October and we're going to make a trip of it! We'll get to stay longer at Grandma Dobbs's house and then we'll go up to Albuquerque for a few days and visit the rest of the family. We are quite the travelers these day!

More of Mylie

David took some really cute pictures of Mylie when we were in Albuquerque last week.

Little Swimmer

Mylie loves to be in the water whether it is in the swimming pool, bath tub or merely holding her hand under the running faucet.

This picture is super sweet because David is giving his girl a little kiss, but it also makes me laugh. Mylie has incredible vision and can find the smallest speck of anything on the carpet or counter, and here she has found a hole in the concrete and is poking at it with her pointer finger.

8 Months Old

Mylie was 8 months old on Saturday. I say this all the time, but I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

She has grown a lot over the past month. She is on the verge of crawling. Yesterday, she got on all fours and was rocking back and forth. She has already mastered scooting backwards on her belly. It is really funny because if you lay a toy in front of her, she'll scoot backwards trying to get it. We tell her "come forward" but of course she can't understand us. She definitely keeps us laughing. She shakes her head from side to side now and laughs at us when we do it back to her. Whenever we clap or wave at her, she will shake her hands, so we know she is trying to connect the dots. She still loves meal time and eats all her fruit, but it takes her a little longer to eat her veggies. She is officially sleeping unswaddled now. She was getting out of her swaddle and backing herself into the corner of her crib, so we took the blankets away...cold turkey! Last night was her best night of sleeping in what seems like months and I am very encouraged that this is going to be a trend. We, of course, are so proud of her for all her baby accomplishments, but we cannot get over just how much we love her. She is so wonderful, happy, perfect...and she's all ours!!!
