Mylie's Latest Trip

Mylie and I went to Lubbock and Carlsbad last week for Melissa's bridal showers. Mylie did wonderful on the 5 hour trip to Lubbock and on the 7 hour trip back home from Carlsbad. She was able to meet lots of new friends at the showers and see her Grandpa Dobbs, Grami Jo and her Great Grandma Dobbs. On our way home, we stopped in Abilene and had lunch with Mylie's Uncle Michael.

This is how I kept Mylie occuppied while we got ready for the shower in Lubbock. She was actually very content for about 30 minutes.

Here is Mylie's Carlsbad shower attire. I love this dress. David and I bought this dress for her right after we found out she was going to be a little girl. What a precious little girl she has turned out to be.

Me, Melissa and Michelle at the Carlsbad shower

Mylie and I stayed at my grandma's house while we were in Carlsbad. My dad (and Grandpa Dobbs) decided to make a quick trip down to visit us...I mean Mylie!

What a fun week! Melissa's wedding is in October and we're going to make a trip of it! We'll get to stay longer at Grandma Dobbs's house and then we'll go up to Albuquerque for a few days and visit the rest of the family. We are quite the travelers these day!

More of Mylie

David took some really cute pictures of Mylie when we were in Albuquerque last week.

Little Swimmer

Mylie loves to be in the water whether it is in the swimming pool, bath tub or merely holding her hand under the running faucet.

This picture is super sweet because David is giving his girl a little kiss, but it also makes me laugh. Mylie has incredible vision and can find the smallest speck of anything on the carpet or counter, and here she has found a hole in the concrete and is poking at it with her pointer finger.

8 Months Old

Mylie was 8 months old on Saturday. I say this all the time, but I can't believe how fast the time has gone.

She has grown a lot over the past month. She is on the verge of crawling. Yesterday, she got on all fours and was rocking back and forth. She has already mastered scooting backwards on her belly. It is really funny because if you lay a toy in front of her, she'll scoot backwards trying to get it. We tell her "come forward" but of course she can't understand us. She definitely keeps us laughing. She shakes her head from side to side now and laughs at us when we do it back to her. Whenever we clap or wave at her, she will shake her hands, so we know she is trying to connect the dots. She still loves meal time and eats all her fruit, but it takes her a little longer to eat her veggies. She is officially sleeping unswaddled now. She was getting out of her swaddle and backing herself into the corner of her crib, so we took the blankets away...cold turkey! Last night was her best night of sleeping in what seems like months and I am very encouraged that this is going to be a trend. We, of course, are so proud of her for all her baby accomplishments, but we cannot get over just how much we love her. She is so wonderful, happy, perfect...and she's all ours!!!

What have we been doing lately? Lots!

Where have we been, you may ask? After we got home from our week in Houston, we stayed put for 4 days then packed up and went to Albuquerque for 9 days. I went to my high school reunion and we were able to spend lots of time with family and friends. Check out the 3 postings below to catch all the action...
Hangin in the hammack...
...playing in the grass with Nonna...
...eating at El Pinto with Grandpa Dobbs & Uncle Ryan...
...trying to crawl to Grami...
...playing with Tanner...

And much, much more below!!!

10 Year LCHS Reunion

My 10 year high school reunion was also this weekend. It is so silly now to think of how nervous I was to be going back, because once we got to the reunion, it was not a big deal at all. The venue was nice and the weather was beautiful, but not too many of my classmates showed up (hint, hint, DiPaolo & Kunkle!). However, David and I went with one of my middle school/high school best friends Katie and her new husband Aaron and I think we had a pretty good time. We thought for sure that we'd be answering the same questions OVER and OVER again, but we were able to just chat and catch up with some people we haven't talked to in 10 years. Overall, I'm very glad I went.

David, Mylie and Me before we left. David got a little spot on his shirt JUST as we were leaving...thank goodness for name tags!!!

Me, Katie, Jennifer & Kim. I've known all these girls since 6th grade.

David and Me. People kept saying "Oh, High School Sweethearts!" which we often forget that we are. However, I was proud to have him with me! He looked so handsome. I guess we'll do this all over again next year for his reunion.

Me and Katie

There was also a family picnic the following day. It was so funny to see some of these girls now with kiddos.
