What have we been doing lately? Lots!
Where have we been, you may ask? After we got home from our week in Houston, we stayed put for 4 days then packed up and went to Albuquerque for 9 days. I went to my high school reunion and we were able to spend lots of time with family and friends. Check out the 3 postings below to catch all the action...

10 Year LCHS Reunion
My 10 year high school reunion was also this weekend. It is so silly now to think of how nervous I was to be going back, because once we got to the reunion, it was not a big deal at all. The venue was nice and the weather was beautiful, but not too many of my classmates showed up (hint, hint, DiPaolo & Kunkle!). However, David and I went with one of my middle school/high school best friends Katie and her new husband Aaron and I think we had a pretty good time. We thought for sure that we'd be answering the same questions OVER and OVER again, but we were able to just chat and catch up with some people we haven't talked to in 10 years. Overall, I'm very glad I went.
David, Mylie and Me before we left. David got a little spot on his shirt JUST as we were leaving...thank goodness for name tags!!!
Me, Katie, Jennifer & Kim. I've known all these girls since 6th grade.
David and Me. People kept saying "Oh, High School Sweethearts!" which we often forget that we are. However, I was proud to have him with me! He looked so handsome. I guess we'll do this all over again next year for his reunion.
Me and Katie
There was also a family picnic the following day. It was so funny to see some of these girls now with kiddos.
Ralph's 65th Surprise Birthday Party
Nonna (aka Carole Hicks) threw Grandpops (aka Ralph Hicks) a surprise 65th birthday party. It was such a special night for him filled with lots of family and friends - new and old. We all thought that he would figure out the surprise but he insists he was clueless until the minute he opened the door and saw everyone. And although Ralph was the man of the hour, Mylie was a HUGE hit and I know he was proud to show her off.

Surprise!

Here is David's Grandma and Mylie's Great-Grandma Bev with me and Mylie
It was fun for David to introduce Mylie to one of his childhood best friends, Derek Hermann.
Surprise!

4th of July
Thanks for the cute outfit, Nonna!
We spent the 4th in Houston this year. Houston has been receiving just as much rain as DFW, so we spent the majority of the day indoors. GM sponsors the 4th day long extravaganza/fireworks show, so he was working. Mylie and I went up to Alissa's parents lake house and had a good time playing games, going out on the boat (me, not Mylie) and eating lots of good food. We drove back to Sugar Land before the fireworks, but saw many going off in the distance.
Me, Mylie, Alissa, Ryan & Fran
Mylie got to go to her first Astros home game. I guess we didn't bring the Astros much luck...they lost to the Mets.
We stayed at the Houston's house while they were in CO for vacation, but were able to spend the weekend with them once they got back. It is always fun to see our HOU friends!

Wedding planning...
We had an adventure filled weekend! Melissa is getting married in October and we were out and about doing wedding stuff. I'd put more pictures up, but they are all of Melissa in her dress and we don't want Colin to get curious and stumble across those pictures!
Melissa - The Bride, Neta Beth - Mother of the Bride, Ellice - Neice of the Bride
Whitney - Bridesmaid #1 & Only, Michelle - Matron of Honor & Sister of the Bride (Also, there is an 11 week growing baby inside Michelle), Melissa - The Bride
It's always fun when we have visitors because we have a good reason to go to restaurants like The Cheesecake Factory. Poor Mylie was super tired, so we gave her David's hat to distract her.
Another wild woman hair picture!

7 Months!
Mylie was 7 months old yesterday! She is doing great and is getting to be such a big girl. She can sit up on her own now, pass a toy from one hand to the other, pull herself up (sometimes), scoot backwards on her bottom a tiny bit, has moved from veggies to fruits (we're actually a little behind on the baby foods!), is starting to drink out of a sippy cup, pushes up when on her belly and is starting to bring one knee around, responds when we say her name, and smiles and laughs a lot. She is such a wonderful, happy girl. We love her so much!
She LOVES soft, cozy stuffed animals. She will bring them to her face and nuzzle them. It is so cute and never gets old to watch her cuddle!
As you can see, Mylie has wild woman hair. I initially put bows in her hair because they were so tiny and cute, but now they have become a necessity!
I feel comfortable leaving Mylie on the floor when I need to do things around the house. Yesterday, when I left, she was sitting up and when I came back in the room, she had fallen backwards. I guess her trip backwards didn't hurt because she was happy as could be when I found her. She was watching her Praise Baby DVD and playing with her feet.
Mylie Meets Shaun & Megan
We went to Scotti Russell's wedding a few weeks back and Mylie had the chance to meet lots of new people.
Me, David, Mylie, Shaun & Megan Schaeffer: Shaun and David are old friends. When I think of David in high school, I always think of Shaun. They were inseparable, that is, until I came along. Shaun kindly reminds me of this on occasion! Megan and Shaun will celebrate their first anniversary this month. It was fun to see them and for Mylie to meet her Daddy's high school best friend!
By this point in the day, Mylie was so tired and we were doing anything to keep her happy. Here she is flying like Superwoman.
Lissa Russell, Noah Dacus, Mylie and Sheri Schaeffer: Mylie and Noah are old buddies and right after this picture was taken, Mylie grabbed his cheeks and startled him. Noah's used to this, though. He has big sister at home.
